January's almost over!

Hey ladies
my word of the week is vociferous, meaning "marked by or given to vehement insistent outcry", as in, "upon realizing that there were no restaurants serving french fries, nor churches serving blooming onions, on New Year's Eve, Jac vociferously trampled through the streets proclaiming her grief for all to hear."

This is my second week in a row of making bread! I've been baking it in a clay pot i brought back from St. Kitts, so it's round, like Rya's boobs. the first recipe was not as good as the second, so i'll post this one. it's pretty good for a go-to whole wheat bread recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1-1/3 cups and 1 tablespoon warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
  • 1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons and 1-1/2 teaspoons honey
  • 2-1/3 cups bread flour
  • 1 tablespoon and 1-1/4 teaspoons butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons and 1-1/2 teaspoons honey
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1-2/3 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2-3/4 teaspoons butter, melted

Directions

This recipe's Ingredients were scaled to ield a new amount. The directions below still refer to the original recipe yield of 3 loaves.
  1. In a large bowl, mix warm water, yeast, and 1/3 cup honey. Add 5 cups white bread flour, and stir to combine. Let set for 30 minutes, or until big and bubbly.
  2. Mix in 3 tablespoons melted butter, 1/3 cup honey, and salt. Stir in 2 cups whole wheat flour. Flour a flat surface and knead with whole wheat flour until not real sticky - just pulling away from the counter, but still sticky to touch. This may take an additional 2 to 4 cups of whole wheat flour. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to coat the surface of the dough. Cover with a dishtowel. Let rise in a warm place until doubled.
  3. Punch down, and divide into 3 loaves. Place in greased 9 x 5 inch loaf pans, and allow to rise until dough has topped the pans by one inch.
  4. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 25 to 30 minutes; do not overbake. Lightly brush the tops of loaves with 2 tablespoons melted butter or margarine when done to prevent crust from getting hard. Cool completely

Adding the melted butter on top of the bread afterwards makes it extra sexy.

i also had a shit-ton of left over vegetables this weekend, so i decided to make soup. I cooked some black beans and then threw in vegetable broth, corn, crushed tomatoes, cabbage, turnips, carrots, celery, onion and garlic. Saute the carrots celery onion and garlic in olive oil in the pot you'll be using, then add the rest of the ingredients with the veg. broth. i didnt' use exact measurements, just threw in my leftover food. i seasoned it with chili pepper, cumin, pepper, salt, and some louisiana hot sauce. it's DELICIOUS and RESOURCEFUL. Bonus points for cubing some avocado and throwing it in after you heat it.

I also got a job waitressing so now i will be fully employed. I start orientation for White Ribbon Alliance on Thursday! Yay for having an income!

Love you all
